MOVEMENT AND PAIN SPECIALISTS

Our dedicated team of highly-skilled Movement and Pain Specialists is compiled of licensed Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists who want one thing – to get you back to doing what you love. Our entire time has received extensive training under the Human Rehabilitation Framework to promote recovery within a transdisciplinary approach. Whether you have a recent injury or a chronic condition, we will help put you on the path to recovery.

Leonard H. Van Gelder DPT, ATC, TPS, CSMT, CSCS

CEO, Founder

Leonard Van Gelder is a clinician, coach, researcher, & educator. He is the founder of, and serves in leadership roles for, the Innovative Movement Development Ventures (IMDV) Group, Dynamic Movement & Recovery, Dynamic Principles, Move Better, and Dynamic Movement Frameworks.

 

He has been involved in the movement and rehabilitation field for over 20 years. During this time, he has studied, published research, and presented at regional and international conferences on the science of movement and pain. He has explored a diverse spectrum of manual therapy and movement approaches, and emphasizes a biopsychosocial approach to movement, manual therapy, and education in his practice.

Leonard had a previous career in information technology and has a previous history in martial arts including working stunt and action choreography (click here for a video). He enjoys spending time with his wife, occasional traveling, and creative outlets such as film/video production.

Cameron Faller, PT, DPT, CSCS

Clinic Director

Cameron is a physical therapist, educator, and strength and conditioning specialist.
Cameron has been involved in the movement industry for over 10 years working in multiple settings. He was able to double major in his undergraduate at CMU in Psychology & Exercise Science and worked as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor for a few years before entering into GVSU’s Physical Therapy Program. Since graduating, Cameron has gained experience in a few diverse settings and quickly was able to take on a management role early in his career.

Blending his love for management and being a clinician, Cameron was finally able to find his home at DMR Move where he feels he is able to help individuals no one else has been able to help.

Aside from being a clinician, Cameron also serves as the Director of Operations of Dynamic Principles where he provides clinical education to individuals within the healthcare field. In his free time, Cameron enjoys reading books, accomplishing yard work, or spending time outside with his wife and two children.

Sarah Pipher

PT, DPT

Sarah is a physical therapist and yoga instructor.
Sarah has worked as a physical therapist for over 8 years, beginning with a strong focus in pediatric rehabilitation, and segued into the treatment of individuals of all ages with chronic pain. She completed a pediatric residency in 2014, has published research, and enjoys serving as an adjunct staff for GVSU’s PT program.
Sarah has a background in hockey and dance, and recently completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training. She integrates yogic movement, breathing and mindfulness into her treatment of individuals with a variety of conditions, and enjoys continuously growing in this field through the guidance of several local and international teachers. She finds passion in helping people discover self-regulation of their nervous system, and exploring accessible movement to meet their own functional goals.
In her free time, Sarah enjoys her own yoga practice, boating, travel, all things food, and keeping up with her 3-year-old son.

Ben Krull

PT, DPT

Ben is a physical therapist.
Ben originally hails from Buffalo, New York (go Bills!), where his extensive martial arts background from a young age stirred an interest in the human body and movement science that led him to study Exercise Science at Calvin University. He completed his clinical doctorate in Physical Therapy at University of Michigan, serving as a Graduate TA in Gross and Neuroanatomy and the Director of Operations of the Flint pro-bono student clinic, PTHeart.
His primary professional interests are sports medicine, the neuroscience of pain, and motor learning/motor behavior, but his main motivation is to help all patients find independence and pursue activity that brings value and meaning to their lives.
When he’s not working, Ben can usually be found training, reading, sampling Scotch, playing guitar/videogames with friends, and enjoying long walks in frigid temperatures.

Carissa Montague

OTD, OTR/L

Carissa is an occupational therapist and certified Pilates instructor.
Carissa has worked in the wellness field for close to 20 years. She recently relocated to Grand Rapids from Chicago where her experience as a Pilates Instructor and professional dancer fueled her interest in working with movement and pain and led her to obtaining a clinical doctorate in occupational therapy.
As an occupational therapist, she is committed to individualized care that puts the client front and center. Carissa values a supportive and multidisciplinary approach, partnering with clients so they can engage in the daily activities they need and want to do. Her treatment background includes experience with chronic migraine and other headache conditions and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).
In her free time, Carissa is usually in middle of few different books, and enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her family.

Megan Dickerson

OTR/L

Megan is an occupational therapist.
Megan has worked as an occupational therapist for over 8 years and has had the opportunity to serve in all healthcare settings throughout her career (inpatient, skilled nursing, homecare, outpatient, and acute care). This has offered exposure to a variety of diagnoses across the span of a lifetime and offers an understanding of the patient perspective in each of these situations. Navigating life situations with neurological clients has been her most beloved work. Megan dedicates her time focusing on how to achieve a better lifestyle utilizing the unique goals of each individual client.
Megan has a background in basketball and running, and continues to enjoy moving her body while water and snow skiing, hiking, and trying to keep up with her 3 kids. Traveling to experience new cultures, food, and environments is another activity she enjoys alongside her husband.

Justin Borman

PTA

Justin is a Physical Therapist Assistant
Justin has worked in the physical therapy field in a variety of roles for over 3 years. He has enjoyed working with people of all ages with diverse backgrounds and conditions. With a educational background in psychology, he enjoys helping people discover new tools that help them move toward their own goals and values.
Justin enjoys joining patients in the discovery of finding new options of movement and thinking that promote well-being, helping uncover the joy for living that is often complicated through pain and dysfunction.
In his free time, Justin enjoys spending time with his loved-ones, being in nature, and playing piano.

Stacey Buschert

Office Manager

Stacey is our office manager
Stacey has worked in a number of roles ranging from customer service, book keeping, to insurance billing over her career. She shows tremendous care for the operation of the office and the quality of patient care.
Stacey and her husband have 5 adult children and 4 grand children who they love spending time with.

Luke Batt

Customer Service Supervisor

Luke acts as Customer Service Supervisor for the front office
Luke is a recent graduate from Calvin University where he studied philosophy, Biochemistry and Spanish. He is with us during his gap years until he heads off to graduate school where he will be studying to earn his MD-PhD.

After working in a nursing home for five years, Luke has developed a passion for geriatric medicine and a commitment the holistic and person-centered approach to medicine emphasized at DMR Move. He hopes to use the valuable experiences he gains here to one day help him train the next generation of doctors.

Sydni WillCock

Customer Service Representative

Sydni has worked a number of different customer service positions, many with a focus in technology. She is passionate about LGBTQ+ rights, mental health awareness, and helping people find solutions to their problems. 

 

Outside of work, Sydni likes to spend time with her family, make baked goods for her coworkers, and travel around the country with her
friends.

Natalie vandyke

Customer Service Representative

Natalie has a huge passion for helping and healing people within her life. She has a strong appreciation for anything outdoors, preferably near water. 

She is also an avid music enthusiast and a creative photographer with history of developing flyers and banners for many events. A fun fact about Natalie is that she grew up on a hobby farm in Lowell and rode horses for the first 20 years of her life. She now lives in Grand Rapids and feels DMR Move is a place where she can continue to pursue her passion of serving others.

Peggy Haberman

Accounts Payable Clerk

Peggy is our Accounts Payable clerk
Peggy’s career has been in customer service, accounts payable, office administrator, executive assistant and more recently in information technology. She has an Associate Degree in Accounting.
In her free time, she focuses on getting into better health with water aerobics classes at the Y. She has 3 adult children and 3 grandchildren that she spends quality time with. Peggy has a creative side and makes special handmade greeting cards and has dabbled in being a hobby photographer. She loves to travel as much as she can.
