What We Do

Our Services

DMR provides both Recovery and Movement and Wellness services. By learning about your history in depth we can make a more thorough evaluation and make sure the plan we come up with together is catered to your needs.

Our highly-skilled licensed physical therapists want one thing— to get you back to doing what you love. Whether you have a recent injury or a chronic condition, our Movement and Pain specialists will put you on the path to recovery.

Our licensed physical therapists can provide physical therapy services with or without physician referral in the state of Michigan. We can evaluate and treat illness and injury for 10 visits or 21 days without physician consultation. During this time we will determine whether your condition has improved enough that you could continue with our Movement and Wellness programs, or whether we would need to consult with a physician for continuing treatment.

If your physician has already referred you for physical therapy services, we do not have to worry about these time limits and will work closely with your physician in ensuring your treatment is appropriate and uninterrupted.

Your visits may be partially or completely covered by insurance. We currently bill the following insurance networks:

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield
    • Blue Care Network
    • Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan

Movement and Wellness

If you are interested in improving your quality of movement for fitness, enhanced performance, or just a sense of improved wellbeing, we can help. We teach our clients movements and exercises built around their unique anatomy, health history, body behavior, their likes/dislikes, values, and goals.

The best way to learn more is to schedule an Insight session. In your Insight session, we will explore your Bioosychosocial profile in depth to develop a plan based on your unique needs.

Insight sessions involve one of our movement and pain specialists spending time learning about your history, evaluating how your body is built and moves, and taking an inventory of your values and goals to build a customized plan for improving movement and wellness built around your unique needs. Based on your Insight session we can build a package of movement and wellness sessions, as well as, hands-on neural calming and body awareness sessions.

Our movement and wellness sessions are defined based on the information gathered during your insight session. Sessions may range from strength and conditioning fitness training, mindful movement, to help with sticking with values and goals.

Our approach to hands-on techniques (commonly known as manual therapy) is that the client determines what hands-on approach is best for them. We may use techniques you are familiar with such as mobilization, manipulation, and soft tissue work (such as massage or myofascial release) but we want to give you an updated understanding of the underlying reasons they may be helpful to you based in modern science. The key message is none of these are required for health or recovery, but they may be helpful and YOU are in charge, not us. You are not broken and do not need to be fixed or aligned, but some hands-on contact may feel good and may help you to learn more about your own body to help you move better. Currently, we provide 3 different styles of hands-on sessions:

  • Neural Calming – These sessions are based on discussion with you regarding what type of hands-on contact feels good to you. Some people prefer firm contact, some light contact, some prefer hands on that are more felt in the joints. We can provide suggestions, but you decide, you are in control.
  • Body Awareness – These sessions are hands-on education sessions to learn more about the resting tension and region by region behavior of your body. These may include mobilization or manipulation techniques if you find these helpful. Often there are more verbal discussions in these sessions than neural calming and massage because the emphasis on the session is learning about your body to help you to better understand it and your own movement.
  • Massage – These are very traditional massage sessions such as kneading and tapping performed by a licensed massage therapist or physical therapist trained in massage techniques.
